Review And Download Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (2019)

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker enters the market with various obstacles. This obstacle began with the director to change, until the fans left because The Last Jedi was considered disappointing. With difficulties like this, will the last film of the new Star Wars saga succeed?
Pre-Production Problems

When the latest Star Wars trilogy was announced a few years ago the three films would be directed by three different people, just like the first trilogy. Starting with Episode VII, directed by J.J. Abrams who successfully recycled Star Trek. Episode VIII directed by Rian Johnson who successfully gush Looper. Episode IX will be directed by Colin Trevorrow, the director who at that time produced the unique film Safety Not Guaranteed (2012) and was trusted to handle the new project Jurassic Park.

Abrams opens Episode VII - The Force Awakens well, even though the story is so similar to Episode IV, the first Star Wars film from George Lucas. Fans were a little hesitant, with the trauma of the Episode I-III trilogy that tarnished the majesty of Star Wars' first trilogy (Episode IV-VI). Then, a big problem occurred in Episode VIII - The Last Jedi.

The Last Jedi, directed by Rian Johnson, ruffled the grips of the Star Wars films that fans have known and loved. He also somewhat ignored the construction of The Force Awakens and the most severe, which is to mess up the character Luke Skywalker. Fans hated it, finding Luke's drastic changes in Episode VIII very odd. However, many also praised Rian Johnson for taking the risky path and creating a unique film in The Last Jedi.

Retreating a little before The Last Jedi was released, Episode IX had lost the director. Colin Trevorrow is not in line with Disney officials. He resigned. J.J. Abrams was reappointed to direct the closing film of this saga. Abrams did not have much time to complete an absolute scenario. Because, less than a year he was appointed to close this saga, filming had begun. Not to mention the death of Carrie Fisher, who is said to have a vital role in Episode IX.

Going forward until two weeks ago, Abrams was interviewed in depth by the New York Times regarding Episode IX, entitled The Rise of Skywalker. In short, Abrams seems to be less comfortable with the latest Star Wars saga ending. He expressed a little disappointment at The Last Jedi who was directed by Johnson for ignoring what he had built in The Force Awakens. However, Abrams calls Johnson's actions needed to make the ending film interesting.

Seeing The Rise of Skywalker is like a summary, a film that continues to move here and there without adequate emotions. This film has a big problem in playing the tempo of the story, or determining the focus of the story, or maximizing each scene. There is no valid answer, because after watching this film, the audience is still confused about what happened in the story.

The Rise of Skywalker seems to be working hard to get out all its ace. Starting from uniting the three main protagonists Rey (Daisy Ridley), Finn (John Boyega) and Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac). Then, returning some characters from old films such as Lando Calrissian (Billy Dee Williams), even to revive Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and ... Emperor Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid). To make some antagonistic characters (call it Kylo Ren, played by Adam Driver) to be good.

Imagine a film like a deck of playing cards. Ace is created to outperform other cards, besides Joker. This makes the appearance of the awaited cards. However, if the entire deck contains aces, or the amount is doubled, the game becomes unattractive. This is like The Rise of Skywalker, multiplying aces without paying too much attention to the low-value cards that make the game, or in the context of the film interesting.

Seen once in The Rise of Skywalker, Abrams took the middle road. He seems to have difficulty following the chaos of The Last Jedi made by Johnson, but must continue. In addition, he also wishes to make Episode IX be loved by fans.
Rey, Finn and Poe Dameron have an affair

To follow Johnson's risky path, Abrams included many mystical and spiritual elements that were rather minimal in previous Star Wars films. He thickened Sith's background which was full of mystical and spiritual things. Then, he tried to play the protagonist and the antagonist of the characters in this film, not only Kylo. Risks like this are praiseworthy.

Unfortunately, Abrams still uses a method similar to his Force Awakens, which mimics the storyline of the first trilogy. When The Force Awakens plagiarized a bit with A New Hope, The Rise of Skywalker seems to be imitating Return of the Jedi. Changing Kylo to be good even as if copying the story of Vader before, so it is difficult to praise this side.

This paper can also be concluded with a quote from Abrams in the same interview with the New York Times: "I have never been proficient in endings. I don't think I'm good at anything, but I know how to start a story. Ending the story is difficult. "
